Project Scope

In 1971, Modynagar Baptist Church started in Tura, India as a fellowship under Tura Baptist Church. Then in 2008, the fellowship became a fully independent church known as Modynagar Baptist Church, comprised of 150 Christian households and over 700 members. The church has two full time pastors, one care taker and one pastoral ministry trainee. Presently, the existing church has sitting capacity for only 250 members, with no room for a baptistery or permanent office space. With church numbers growing every year, it is becoming congested and sitting arrangements are a problem.

Modynagar is a city and a municipal board in the Indian state of Meghalaya. It is located in Tura near Circuit House and Tura Civil Hospital. The name Modynagar is an eponym of late Mody K. Marak, Chief Executive Member of Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (G.H.A.D.C.). By God's grace, the land was left by the G.H.A.D.C. to the former proprietor of the land.

Modynagar Baptist Church Tura wishes to construct a new church building with a seating capacity of 500 with a gallery, baptistery, office, conference room, kitchen, toilets and bathroom attached. Staff quarters and a guest house are also planned on another piece of land. The ministry has requested that EMI send a team to work on the master plan for Modynagar Baptist Church as well as the new church building design and budget estimates for the work.
