Project Volunteers join 10–14 day conceptual design project trips which are operated at three seasons: February – March, June – July, & September – October. Every year, there are typically 8 to 10 of these trips – different projects for different client ministries at different locations in South Asia – bringing the disciplines together for a design synergy unique to EMI. You see what's happening next on the Current Forecast page. The total cost to participate on a project team depends on the specific project location & which country you're coming from. To be considered for a Project Volunteer position on a specific project trip, email your "EMI Passport" to the project leader.

Sending us your EMI Passport means you're ready to commit to joining the project team. If you accept the project leader's invitation, the necessary logistical preparations can be made for you to meet the project team at the rendezvous city in South Asia. After a opening team meeting, we travel to the project site & meet the client ministry. Then the EMI synergy gets going...
The surveyors are surveying the site, while architects work with the client to develop the brief / programme & then the design. The engineers assess options for water supply & wastewater disposal. Professional experience is rubbing off on interns while intern exposure to the environment of South Asia is rubbing off on volunteers. The project leader helps communication & prioritizes what's important. The vision & experiences of the ministry leader is impacting everyone. The concept is presented & the client is giving key feedback. We all pray together, committing the project & each other to the Lord. On your way back home, you wonder how so much could have happened in just a week or so...
At EMI, we've been mobilizing design professionals just like you since 1982. It's what we do best. Get ready to be a part of it now!
